richard e. engebrecht Mr. Engebrecht brings more than 40 years experience in the distribution business with the family of Univar companies to Penford's board of directors. Most recently, he served as chairman of Momentum Corporation. Previously, he served as president and chief executive officer of Momentum and VWR Scientific Products and president and chief operating officer of Univar Corporation. He began his career with Univar after earning a B.S. from Fresno State University. He also serves as chairman of the board of PrimeSource Corporation and director of VWR Scientific Products and SeaMed Corporation. paul e. freiman Mr. Freiman is the chief executive officer and president of Neurobiological Technologies Inc. and is the former chairman and chief executive officer of Syntex Corporation. He also serves as a director of Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. He is chairman of the board of Digital Gene Technologies and serves as a board member for LifeScience Economics, Inc. and Andrulis Pharmaceuticals, Inc. Additionally, he is the past chairman of the Foundation for the University of California, and a trustee of the School of the Sacred Heart of San Francisco. He is a graduate from Fordham University with a B.S. degree in Pharmacy. tod r. hamachek Mr. Hamachek became Penford's president, chief operating officer and a director following the Company's 1984 spin-off from Univar Corporation. He was elected chief executive officer in 1985. He is also the chairman of the board of directors and chief executive officer of Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. He is a director of Northwest Natural Gas Company, DEKALB Genetics Corporation and The Seattle Times Co. He is a trustee of Virginia Mason Medical Center, the Seattle Foundation, The Washington Roundtable and Williams College. Mr. Hamachek holds an M.B.A. from the Harvard Business School and a B.A. from Williams College. paul h. hatfield Mr. Hatfield served as chairman, president and chief executive officer of Petrolite Corporation until July, 1997. Prior to that, he worked for the Ralston Purina Company from 1959 until his retirement in 1995. He served as a vice president of Ralston as well as the president and chief executive officer of Protein Technologies International, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Ralston Purina Company. He is a director of DEKALB Genetics Corporation, Solutia, Inc., Stout Industries, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and the Japan American Society. Mr. Hatfield is also a member of the Advisory Board of International Business for St. Louis University. harry mullikin Mr. Mullikin's position as chairman emeritus for Westin Hotels & Resorts follows a long career with Westin that saw the company grow to 64 hotels worldwide. He is a Washington State University graduate, and a trustee of the Washington State University Foundation. He is also a member of the board of directors of Virginia Mason Medical Center. sally g. narodick Ms. Narodick currently serves as Educational Technology Consultant to the Consumer Division of IBM Corporation. She has held this position since December 1997 when Edmark was acquired by IBM. Ms. Narodick was formerly chairman and chief executive officer of Edmark Corporation. Before joining Edmark in 1989, she was a partner of Narodick, Ross & Associates, a financial and marketing consulting firm. Previously, she spent 15 years in various executive management positions with Seafirst Corporation. A graduate of Boston University, Ms. Narodick earned a Master of Arts in Teaching from Columbia University and an M.B.A. from New York University. She is a director of Puget Sound Energy and Fluke Corporation. william g. parzybok Mr. Parzybok is chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Fluke Corporation. He joined Fluke in early 1991. He began his career with Hewlett-Packard in 1968, spending 16 years in various executive management positions. Mr. Parzybok received a B.S. in Electrical Engineering and an M.S. in Business Management from Colorado State University. He serves on the University of Washington's College of Engineering Visiting Committee. He is on the board of directors of WRQ, Inc., the Pacific Science Center and the Technology Alliance. n. stewart rogers Mr. Rogers is chairman of the board of Penford, and is a director of Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co. He served as senior vice president of Univar Corporation until retiring in 1991. Mr. Rogers is a director of Fluke Corporation, VWR Scientific Products, U.S. Bancorp, and Royal Pakhoed, N.V. (the Netherlands). He is a graduate of Stanford University, with a B.A. in Economics. william k. street Since 1965, Mr. Street has directed The Ostrom Company as president and general manager. Earlier in his career, he was general manager of Elkhorn Ranch, Ltd. and vice president and general manager of Physio-Control Corporation. He also is a member and treasurer of the National Mushroom Council and trustee emeritus of the Tacoma Art Museum. A University of Washington graduate, Mr. Street is a member of the Advisory Committee of the University of Washington, Tacoma.
