Our goal has always been to maximize long-term shareholder value. That goal is the source of our decision to spin-off our pharmaceuticals division as a separate company. Upon completion of the spin-off, PENWEST, LTD. will be two companies: Penford Corporation, combining our specialty chemical starch and modified food starch operations and Penwest Pharmaceuticals Co., each with a stronger focus on its respective technologies and markets.
